Scrappy Woven Fence |
4 ft. coated metal garden stakes enough to place about every 18" along your desired path, with extra to form curves and corners.
2-1/2" wide strips of colorful fabric
Instructions:
Place the garden stakes deep enough that you don't feel any wiggle. I pushed mine in about a foot. Place them about every 18" along the path, adding extra to form curves and corners.
*Optional - I ran a piece of decorative wire fence about 18" high along the bottom of my fence and started weaving fabric above that but you can start weaving from the ground up if you wish. At the base I planted peas so the fence will serve as a trellis as the vines grow.
To prepare the strips, tie strips together at ends to form one long strip. I found the strip easier to handle by wrapping it into a ball but you can leave it in a pile if you wish. You just don't want it to tangle as you are weaving it through the stakes.
To weave, tie one end of the strip to the first stake. Wrap the strip around the next stake and then the next until you reach the end of your path then work your way back the other way. Go back and forth, wrapping the strip around the stakes each time as you get to them until you come to the end of your strip. At the end either tie the strip to the stake (It may be one of the middle stakes or the end stake.) or add more strips and continue weaving until you reach the top of the stakes.
Enjoy your colorful scrappy woven fence!
